This programme, which went out on BBC One last night after months of BBC3 transmissions, has an attached blog. The programme is a bit of a me-too, in the style of Ross Kemp In Afghanistan. Where it improves on Ross is in having an ongoing narrative, showing the mess Jack gets into on returning to the UK. His experiences in combat and his inability to deal with normal life at home appear to be closely linked. There is loads of great stuff in the blog, like the Afghan National Army guys breaking into their British Army colleagues' dorm and stealing $9 and their best porn mag. Also interesting is the 8 September entry, which talks about how UK civilians such as police and foreign office development people can't move off base because of worries about their security; have budgets too small to do anything significant; and have achieved hardly anything.
