Many congratulations to Year 3 undergraduate student Karina Pavlova, who has just been announced as the 2019 Sky News Bob Friend Scholar.

After a tough interview process, Karina emerged as the successful candidate just ahead of shortlisted students Jess Sharp, Sam Baker and Joe Dawson - all of whom gave superb accounts of themselves for the panel.

Karina, whose story pitch for the scholarship was on a shortage of defibrillators in public spaces around the country, will officially be given the award at the Bob Friend Memorial Lecture to be delivered by Sophy Ridge on March 6.

Very many congratulations, Karina.  I am delighted for you. And well done Jess, Joe and Sam. It was a superb shortlist. I shall make sure you all get a mention when Karina receives the award on 6 March. The CfJ is proud of all of you.

Congratulations to Karina Pavlova, Bob Friend Sky News Scholar 2019
