Karina Pavlova joined the pantheon of Bob Friend Memorial Scholars at a glitzy annual event attended by senior Sky News journalists in Medway last night.
Karina, who is in her final year at the Centre for Journalism, was presented with her prize by Sophy Ridge - presenter of Sky's flagship political discussion programme every Sunday - and Peter Diapre, assistant editor (mobile).
She won over Sky News executives with her pitch for a story about defibrilators being legally required in schools, universities and sports centres. Her prize was £3,500 towards her tuition fees and a month's work experience with Sky News this summer.
Karina was joined on stage by other former winners: Emma Rae Woodhouse, Alan McGuinness, Jem Collins and Laerke Christensen.
