Register now for January's NCTJ Production Journalism exam

An important reminder that all students intending to take the NCTJ Production Journalism exam on 26 January MUST register with Anastasia today or tomorrow.

This applies to Year 2, Year 3 and MA students on the accredited course. It's particularly important for those Year 3 students who will need this exam to reach the necessary number of NCTJ diploma credits. Check with me if you're not sure.

You will not be able to register in the new year because of NCTJ rules - so please act now.

Danny Rust lands sport reporter job at Essex Echo

Many congratulations to Danny Rust, who has just landed a fantastic job as sports reporter for the Essex Echo. He'll be reporting (no doubt entirely objectively) on West Ham United as well as covering tennis and athletics.

Danny graduated from our BA programme in the summer, and tells us that his new sports editor had been keeping an eye on his progress during his time at the Centre for Journalism - and contacted him directly to tell him to apply when the job vacancy came up.

Lauren lands Express job

We couldn't help but notice a familiar byline on the Express website's coverage of Kanye West's meltdown this morning. That's Lauren Meechan, who graduated from the CfJ's BA programme this summer, and has landed a great job as online showbiz reporter for the Express - having applied through LinkedIn.

Congratulations Lauren.

Year 3's New Perspectives web site is live again today

Year 3 students from the BA Journalism course are once again working on an assessed newsday. This afternoon they will be broadcasting 2 hours of live radio from the centre's newsroom. And throughout the day they will be updating their New Perspectives web site and its associated social media accounts.
